FOOT PRESSURE POINTS AND WHAT THEY MEAN FOR YOUR HEALTH

FOOT PRESSURE POINTS AND WHAT THEY MEAN FOR YOUR HEALTH

Pressure point is a point on the skin that is extremely sensitive to pressure. Although your feet do a lot of work, it is the least pampered part of your body. Your feet can be pampered by massaging it's pressure points, thereby reducing the chronic pain that could be felt around it.

Reflexology, also known as zone therapy is a therapeutic method of relieving pain and improving health throughout the entire body by stimulating pressure points that are found on the hands and feet. Stimulating those points with finger pressure promotes health in those organs and glands via the body’s energetic pathways.

Reflexology has a lot of benefits. It has the ability to stimulate nerve function, increase energy, boost circulation, boost metabolism, induce a deep state of relaxation, eliminate toxins, reduce stress, stimulate a central nervous system, prevent migraines, and treat urinary tract conditions.Reflexology is a type of massage that

speeds up recovery after an injury or surgery, reduces sleep disorders, and relieves depression and pain. Furthermore, it can help to ease the treatment of various types of cancer and even help to soothe the pain of pregnancy, even the one occurring after delivery.

Now you've known it is not a rumor that reflexology can benefit your health. The most interesting aspect of it is that it can be done by yourself without the help of a massage therapist. How do you go about that?  How can you find a pressure point? It's very simple, now I am going to show you how to find a pressure point and how to perform a simple foot massage. The first thing you are going to do is sit on a comfortable but solid chair. Lift up one foot and rest it on the knee of your opposite leg so that you can easily rub and massage the bottom of that foot. Make sure to keep your back straight and not to slouch.

Next, you need to take a look at your Acupressure Foot Chart (below) and identify what part of your body that you want to treat.

For example, if you are having neck pain, find the number that the “neck” area is listed as. Then find the corresponding area of your foot located on the chart that is labelled with the same number. This is the area of the foot that you will be manipulating.

Once you have found the area of the foot that you will be applying pressure on, use the tip of your thumb to press and knead that area deeply for between 1-2 minutes. Then repeat this with the opposite foot and the opposite thumb. Repeat this process for any other area on your body that you want to treat.
